Going Dotty...

I am surrounded by lots & lots of Spots & Dots .............. bright enough to need sunglasses when the sun shines.  Cheerful on a cold winter's day.  The colours are working well together so far......... yes, they are very very vibrant, but that's the look that I want for this blanket... something fun, happy, outrageous & frivolous to make.

Spots...

Dots...

& Spotty Dots....

This blanket is an absolute blast to make.......... & so addictive!

Although, I am wondering if I need another shade or two.......... pale candy pink perhaps?  Or lilac?  Tangerine?  Turquoise........?   Maybe.... we'll see..................

I sometimes wonder if I like to give myself impossible deadlines...

Am I a glutton for punishment when I launch into my craft projects?... Have I bitten off more than I can chew this time (to use another cliche..)? ...  My all time favourite yarn store Eat.Sleep.Knit has made their Yarnathon a bit more fun this year, by putting everyone into teams & giving quarterly challenges & KAL's.  This Quarter's KAL is an 'oldie but a goodie' with the idea being to make something queued or favourited in the first year that we were really active on Ravelry.

I only have one rather ambitious project queued, from that first year, which hasn't been made or culled already.... It will definately be fun to make... but will I have time?  It's Lucy from Attic24's Hexagon Blanket.

My first yarn arrived early last week.. MadTosh DK in Button Jar Blue, Three Irish Girls Springvale DK in Pressed Flowers & Tanis Fibre Arts Yellow Label DK in Lemongrass... very yummy shades!

On Monday, part 2 of my yarn for this project arrived & ... well, it's a little but bright!  MadTosh DK in Edison Bulb, Neon Peach, Fluoro Rose & Holi Festival.

I've ordered more Holi Festival today as it's going to be the main shade around all the little hexagons & ESK only had 6 skeins left in stock, which sent me into a bit of a panic.  Next up, I think I need to order some more calming, pastel, complimentary shades to tone the brightness down just one notch..  Next week maybe for that order...   In the meantime, I am going to enjoy starting to crochet loads of bright patches of colour out of this wonderfully soft, squishy yarn... stay tuned for photo spam as the blanket progresses, or check out my Project Page on Ravelry.
